More Unidentified "Senior Military" spill secrets
Another week, another secret tossed out to the public by the Liberal Loony press.
I have a hard time believing much of this story, because of one thing. The Military knows we are winning in Iraq, they know from the intercepts that we have really hurt Al Qaida. The Military knows we have eliminated 40% of the original Al Qaida forces, and liberated two nations in the process.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Top Pentagon officers have told the Bush administration that bombing Iranian nuclear facilities would probably fail to destroy that country's nuclear program, the New Yorker magazine reported on Sunday.
The senior commanders also warned that any attack launched if diplomacy fails to end the standoff over Iran's nuclear ambitions could have "serious economic, political, and military consequences for the United States," the article said, citing unidentified U.S. military officials.
The Military leaders on the Ground in Iraq say we are winning, the Iraqi people know we are winning, and the Insurgents are ready to discuss surrender because of that knowledge. It is inconceivable that the "secret military source" would not know this. Thus, this information must be spin over substance.
Another parallel U.S. military leaders drew with Iraq is the administration's desire for a swift and cheap intervention in Iran without sufficient regard for economic and political consequences, including oil supplies and a backlash in the broader Muslim world and in Europe.
"If you're a military planner, you try to weigh options," one senior military official was quoted as saying. "What is the capability of the Iranian response, and the likelihood of a punitive response like cutting off oil shipments? What would that cost us?"
However it does remind me of something. It reminds me of all the warnings we got from the Libs about Saddam using WMD's on our troops if we attacked.
I doubt the validity of this assessment. I think we can take out his Nuclear Program, it's not a question of weapon capability, JASSM and other "cruise" type weapons are extremely accurate. Additionally the new generation of penetration weapons, the new hard target penetration have a FAB mix, or Fuel Air Bomb Mix, which is a more effective explosive in a contained space, like tunnels. That by the way makes me think that the Military is already working on weapons to accomplish this mission, instead of making due with whatever we can scrounge up.
