Journalist becomes the story

I saw the link on Michelle Malkin, and this screenshot is from Gateway Pundit.

Here is the picture itself.

It would appear that the closeup wasn't worth it.

What the Republican Party needs.

David Frum complains that following Rush Limbaugh and worse, the behavior of the House Republicans is bad for the Republican Party's future.

Can we get serious for a moment? The Republicans are such a minority in the house that there they have literally no power at all. Worse, they have been shut out of every discussion. They aren't allowed to debate, or offer input on legislation, so the only voice they have left, like much of America, is with their vote. They spoke loudly when they voted en-masse against the Left wing supporters pay off pork bill called a stimulus package.

So to help out, I'm going to tell the Republicans what they need to do. I say they, because I am a Conservative first and last. Never do I vote Republican just because of party affiliation. I vote for the conservative candidate. Sometimes, it's a Democrat, sometimes it's not.

First the Republican Party has to be honest about what made Ronald Reagan great. He was called the Great Communicator. The reason is simple. He spoke and educated the people on what he believed, and why. He was right by the way. Lower taxes do stimulate the economy. The corporate tax rate is too high. So what Republicans are telling us that? Not many, if any.

So why hasn't a Republican sat in front of a TV anchor and said. "You know, the corporate tax rate in the United States is the highest of any industrialized nation. That creates an enviornment where US Business's are charged a tariff of 35% to say they are American. That means that the US produced item has to be more expensive than the foreign produced item from that alone. We need to slash that rate, to give American Companies the chance to be competitive at home, and around the world."

Now, let's listen to the Republican elected leaders talking about that. I don't hear them, do you?
When the Democrats denounce a corporation buying a Gulfstream Jet. Point out that four hundred people work for Gulfstream in Georgia. More work around the nation doing maintenance on the jets. Talk about a stimulus package. The purchase of a jet guarantees at least four hundred jobs in manufacturing. Good union jobs for those Democrats. Why aren't we asking the Democrats why they want to shut down all those union jobs in Georgia?

Ronald Reagan told the people he believed tax cuts were a good thing, and explained it to the people. He was right, history has proven him right, without any doubt. Why can't any Republican stand up and say that? "We support the historically proven path to economic stimulus. Tax cuts are good for America."

Going Moderate means we go soft. We agree that tax cuts are not good, and we say that social programs work better. Despite the historically demonstrable proof otherwise. In other words, we buy the lie of liberalism, and just give it a slightly lighter flavor.

Mr. Frum couldn't be more wrong, we don't need to moderate our tone. We need to find out spines and fight for the truth. When a Democrat lies about it, we need to be right there telling the people that the Democrat just lied to them. Give them the truth, let them check the facts for themselves.

Demand that the Democrat apologize for lying before we go any further. Demand that the Democrat tell the truth about tax cuts, for example. "Senator, until we are willing to deal with this problem with truth, instead of rhetoric, we have no hope of helping the people. Why won't you tell the truth?"

Instead we get this. "It's a great honor to work with the distinguished Senator from New York." Yeah, a great honor. NOT.

First we need to tell the truth, and educate the people, as Reagan did. Then, we need to move in that direction, if not as one, singing from the same sheet of music, then at least humming from the same musical.

Military Judge shrugs off the Obama Executive Order

In a truly amazing development the administration of President Obama has suffered another setback. The Change we hoped for may be derailing already.

President Obama signed an Executive Order in which he suspended all of the Military Tribuneral Trials currently proceeding at Club Gitmo. Yet, a Judge there denied the request by the Prosecutor for a 120 day delay in the case. The Judge told the One no. Imagine that, I'm having trouble with it myself.

A military judge in Guantanamo Bay today denied the Obama administration's request to delay proceedings for 120 days in the case of a detainee accused of planning the October 2000 attack on the USS Cole warship, an al-Qaeda strike that killed 17 service members and injured 50 others.

The decision throws into some disarray the administration's efforts to buy time to review individual detainee cases as part of its plan to close the U.S. military prison at the Guantanamo naval base in Cuba. The Pentagon may now be forced to temporarily withdraw the charges against Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, a Saudi citizen of Yemeni descent.

Nashiri is facing arraignment on capital charges on Feb. 9, and Judge James Pohl, an Army colonel, said the case would go ahead.

.......................

But Pohl said he found the government's reasoning "unpersuasive" and he clearly felt he was not bound to bow to the administration's wishes.

The government, Pohl wrote, sought a delay because if cases went ahead, the administration's review could "render moot any proceedings conducted during the review"; "necessitate re-litigation of issues"; or "produce legal consequences affecting options available to the Administration after completion of the review."

"The Commission is unaware of how conducting an arraignment would preclude any option by the administration," said Pohl in a written opinion, which was obtained by The Post. "Congress passed the military commissions act, which remains in effect. The Commission is bound by the law as it currently exists, not as it may change in the future."

The judge wrote that "the public interest in a speedy trial will be harmed by the delay in the arraignment."

Oh my goodness. Someone better tell this Judge that the merest whim of President Obama is supposed to be our literal command. Telling President Obama that his Executive Order isn't supported by law is probably not going to be received well.

"We just learned of the ruling here . . . and we are consulting with the Pentagon and the Department of Justice to explore our options in that case," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said. Asked at a news briefing whether the decision would hamper the administration's ability to evaluate the cases of Guantanamo detainees, Gibbs replied: "No. Not at all."
I imagine that we can all guess how that consultation went. "Just do it and make it happen right now." I can't swear that phrase was uttered, but I'm willing to guess that it did. I wonder if the new transparency in Government that we were promised is going to shed some light on those consultations?

National Review shows where your tax dollars are going.

In a post earlier today, I asked President Obama if it was a good day. I further pointed out that the so called Stimulus Bill was nothing more than paying off the far left wing supporters. Now, National Review has proven me right by breaking down the stimulus bill.

In other words, the net effect of this bill is to shift the distribution of U.S. government spending as a whole away from defense and public safety and toward social programs: for good or ill, to make the U.S. into more of a European-style social welfare state. Because the amount of spending is so huge, this will be a material, not notional, shift. Eventually, we will emerge from this recession/depression/whatever it’s going to be. When that happens, is this really the kind of government we’re going to want?

So the question is, what is being stimulated? Apparently good solid left wing loony programs.

$20.0 billion to increase the maximum benefit under the Supplemental Nutrition Assurance Program (i.e., Food Stamps)

$18.5 billion for energy efficiency and renewable energy programs

$20.4 billion for programs administered by the Department of health and Human Services

$20.0 billion to renovate elementary and secondary schools

$17.6 billion for Pell grants and other student financial assistance at post-secondary institutions

$29.1 billion for other elementary and secondary educational programs

$30.0 billion for highway construction

$13.1 billion for other transportation programs

$11.2 billion for housing assistance programs administered by HUD

$19.5 billion (minimum, could be higher, as per Title XIII) for education grants to states

$27.1 billion for increase unemployment benefits

$13.3 billion to increase health insurance for unemployed workers

$11.1 billion for “Other Unemployment Compensation”

$20.2 billion for Medicaid and Medicare incentive payments to encourage providers to improve healthcare IT

Let's not forget the more than $5 Billion to ACORN. Nor the more than $325 Billion to the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. I really wish I was making that up. Now, I have to wonder, what kind of jobs would be stimulated with this?

Dems, I have a question. Is this the kind of change you hoped for?

The Rangal Rule Act of 2009

Representative Charles Rangel (DEMOCRAT New York) who managed to so screw up his personal taxes that he had to hire a Forensic Accountant, apparently got a sweetheart deal from the IRS. Despite filing his taxes totally wrong for years, he paid no penalties or fines. If it had been you, or me, we would have been slaves for life paying the IRS for all the penalties and fines we owed.

So the idea of the Rangel Rule Act proposed by Representative John Carter (Republican Texas) is to make it possible for all of us to get access to the same kind of deference and forgiveness that Representative Rangel and other Democrats get from the IRS.

The "Rangel Rule"   [Ramesh Ponnuru]

Rep. John Carter, a Texas Republican, sent out a press release earlier today about his innovative new bill:

"Rangel Rule"

All U.S. taxpayers would enjoy the same immunity from IRS penalties and interest as House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Obama Administration Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, if a bill introduced today by Congressman John Carter (R-TX) becomes law.

Carter, a former longtime Texas judge, today introduced the Rangel Rule Act of 2009, HR 735, which would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service from charging penalties and interest on back taxes against U.S. citizens. Under the proposed law, any taxpayer who wrote “Rangel Rule” on their return when paying back taxes would be immune from penalties and interest.

I wonder why Representative Rangel didn't propose this legislation. After all, aren't the Democrats always telling us that they believe the rules should apply to everyone equally? Yet, Representative Rangel didn't think that we the people should get that kind of sweetheart deal from the IRS.

I fully support this legislation. I'd like to offer my sincere appreciation and admiration to Representative Carter. Fairness demands that everyone get the same forgiveness as the elected and appointed doesn't it Dems?

Was it a good day Mr. President?

The next installment of the perpetual bad spending act, also known as the Crap Sandwich 5.0 passed the House of Representatives. Interestingly enough, the Republicans to a representative, voted no

So the bad bill, which is nothing more than a plethora of political payoff's to the far left wing supporters of the Democrats. There is literally nothing there for the average guy.

$5.2 Billion to ACORN, the often investigated and prosecuted for Voter Fraud group that President Obama has no association with, other than his working with them, and for them.

The charges of partisan political payback appear to be resonating in part due to Obama’s longstanding association with partisan get-out-the-vote operations. He was endorsed by ACORN, and during the campaign paid an ACORN affiliate $832,600 to get-out-the-vote assistance. Early in his career, he led a voter drive for an ACORN-affiliated group called Project Vote.

It’s not the first time ACORN has been entangled in a bailout controversy. In September, House Republicans objected that the original $700 billion bailout package included $100 million for ACORN – a tiny fraction of the sums for ACORN now being considered in the stimulus package.

The Republicans did something right, so I have to assume that President Obama isn't happy about the inability of the President to claim that the horrible spending bill that wastes tons of money on payback for the election.

Then on the Global Warming front, Former Vice President Al Gore, who has demonstrated that he is completely out of touch with reality, testified about Global Warming on a day that a vicious ice storm lashed Washington DC. Seriously

Mr. President, this may be a good day, your plan passed the House of Representatives. It's not a good day, because now, the Democrats own this Recession, and the nonsense payoffs in your plan won't do a thing to stop the Recession, in fact, they will help force it into a full blown official Depression. You won't be able to blame the Republicans, or Conservatives. It's all yours.

Instead of paying off your political chits, you should have considered this little fact. Our Corporate Tax Rate is 35%. That is the highest of any industrialized nation. That corporate tax rate is in fact, a tariff on American Business's. They have to charge 35% more than the competition, in order to pay your tax. It's yours now Mr. President, because you didn't lift a finger to stimulate the economy. You didn't do anything to level the playing field. Instead, you saddled our great grandchildren's great grandchildren with this boondoggle.

The Economy is going to be your quagmire Mr. President. Well, one of them. I predicted this as many of you may remember. I'm really enjoying the show, I've had a big smile on my face for weeks now.

Hey, here's a campaign slogan for Sarah Palin or whoever the Republicans Nominate. "It's time for the Grownups to be in charge."

Bad News For President Obama

It's official. It's in the Newspaper of Record, President Obama now has the United States stuck in a quagmire, and it's not Iraq. Can you believe that's in the New York Times? Not Fox News, but the New York Times?

OBAMA'S WAR

Fearing Another Quagmire in Afghanistan

It gets worse for President Obama. The far left wing kooks that he hoped he placated when he announced he was shutting down Club Gitmo are outraged and sickened, by the deaths of innocents.

Worse yet, President Obama's friend Afghani President Karzai blames President Obama for sixteen deaths resulting from a bombing by US Forces.

This Democrats is the problem. The left wing loonies that you consider your base. That includes the Kos Kids, those wacky Nutroots that control the Democratic Party. You created these monsters, by feeding their paranoia to shore up support for the last twenty years, now you have the nuts to deal with.

Personally I think this is hilarious. On a thread about Richard Holbrooke of the Balkan Peace Plan, the one that still has US Forces in the region a decade after the peace was announced. The one that hasn't quite taken effect, but we hope it will someday. Back to the thread about him. The big question from the left is will Obama lift the ban on photographing or videotaping the caskets bringing our dead home

Mr. President, I believe your nutroots supporters are liable to come after you. Remember that your fellow Democrat Senator Lieberman was defeated in his primary by the Democrats we're talking about.

New President, same old Liberals.

The Liberal world is outraged that Rush Limbaugh hasn't had the good grace to shrivel up and die or commit suicide after Obama's election. The same people who who rang in the start of President Bush's time in the White House with "He's Not My President." Now complain that Limbaugh want's President Obama to fail, and that's horrible. Limbaugh should be driven off the radio, and should not be on Armed Forces Radio. In spite of the troops having spoken in many polls about who they want to hear, Limbaugh is number one on those polls by the way.

As you can see in that video clip, Rush would like to see President Obama succeed, if he implements Conservative Principals. That would be success for America. Instead of the Socialist Policies historically demonstrated to fail. If President Obama succeeds in implementing those Socialist Policies, then America fails as a result.

If you also bothered to watch the clip, Limbaugh also says that President Obama is "My President."

No where in history can you find a successful use of Socialism. The Chinese are moving away from it. The Soviet's fell because of it. Cuba is stuck in the 1950's because of it. Anywhere Socialism is tried, it fails for the people it supposedly serves. If President Obama is successful in his and the Liberals stated objective of inflicting Socialist Policy on the people, then the nation fails.

So Liberals, let me ask you this question. Is President Obama now larger, more important than the nation? It used to be said that the Office of the Presidency was larger than the person who held it. Now, is the person bigger than the entire nation that the office oversees?

Personally, I believe that President Obama is going to be successful in inflicting the socialist agenda on the people. I believe that taxes are going to skyrocket, and I believe that unemployment will reach double digits. I believe that President Obama and the Liberals will come after guns, and inflict the Cap and Trade nonsense to stop Non Existent man  made Global Warming in the midst of Naturally induced Global Cooling.

Personally, I can say that I wish that all that wouldn't happen, because all of that is bad for the country, bad for the people, and will lead to tens of thousands of dead people, mostly poor and elderly. The Liberals feel that dead elderly and poor represent great compassion.

Time for a little truth on eliminating the working poor

Ladies and Gentlemen, for years now I've heard how we need to offer more programs on how to help the poor. Yet, not once have I ever heard the only way that actually helps.

First, start to explain to children the secret of success. Hard work, and education. Learning enough to be able to communicate and read and comprehend the instructions give you by a superior. Education is meant to give our children the foundation of success, by laying the groundwork that they will build the future on.

Truth learned from my own life. Like most teenagers, I found Math difficult, and even arguably useless. I did not know where my future lay, however I was certain I would not be an accountant, and thus Algebra was a waste of time. I was resistant, and even reluctant to offer more than the minimum effort in it.

Some years later, I needed that Algebra, when as an Army Engineer, I found the truth of life, all things tend to tie into math. I loved blowing thins up, however I was always astounded in the amount of math that went into blowing things up. I had to calculate the time fuze burn rate. The explosive radius, or danger zone. The probable effects of the explosive. I had to plan the detonations using complicated mathematical models. How many charges, where they were placed, and how large they should be for example. I would wear out a scratch paper doing the math, which I still resented, so I could do what I wanted, blow things up.

I got better at the math, eventually, reluctantly. Then I achieved higher rank, and the problems really began. My foundation in math was shaky to say the least, mostly self taught as well as lessons from my own superiors. Now, I needed Geometry to plan other things. I was expected to perform Trigonometry as well. This from a guy who in high school barely passed algebra because he was certain there would be no use for math, especially advanced math, anytime in the foreseeable future.

Later I got out of the Army, and became a truck driver. So what could Math have to do with this? Oh not much. How much fuel will you need, and where can you get it at lower cost, and will getting it there, save you or cost you by leaving you empty in an area with higher cost? Then there are the calculations on how fast you can cover a distance, how many days you'll need to cover said distance, how many hours of driving, and how to balance the load in question. Federal Law requires you to have no more than 12,000 lbs on the front axle, and no more than 34,000 on the two sets of tandems. Turning radius, time work estimates, it's all mathematical in nature, and it's easy now, because I've been doing math most of my life despite my absolute certainty that there was no use for that math in my future.

I had to work much harder, to catch up, because I did not give myself the advantage of a solid foundation in math. I nearly doomed my own future, before it began, and would have, if not required to learn some math, up to Algebra in school. Without that, I never would have gotten where I am.

I no longer drive trucks, but I still work in the transportation industry, and usually do the math in my head now, calculating the complex formulas to balance loads and cargo plans. I can glance at a sheet and get a rough understanding of the problem, and the probable solution, doing the math on the fly. Because despite my reluctance, I ended up learning, and needing math.

Before you ask, yes I have notified my Math Teacher that I was wrong, and thanked him. I also thanked the Sergeants and Officers who taught me math later, re-enforcing a weak foundation and giving me a chance at success.

Education, and hard work, get you closer to success than deserve. You may deserve a break, but no one is going to give you one, if you're lucky, as I was, you'll find a superior who has the time, and is willing to spend that time, teaching you what you should have already known.

Liberals, turn off that computer, get off the net, and save the world.

In the Research we could have lived happily without, a researcher who is hoping to fool all of you into signing up for his "green internet hosting" has now determined without any actual data from Google, that two google searches increases your carbon footprint dramatically. It uses as much electricity, and produces as much CO2 as boiling a kettle of water to make your tea

I must insist that all liberals who claim to believe in Man Made Global Warming, no matter what the politically correct term is this week. (I think it's Human Activity Induced Global Climate Change) You must show you love the earth and immediately get off the internet. Turn out those lights for the love of Mother Earth. Do you have any idea how awful you're hurting her?

Seriously. Friends let's take a moment here and be honest. The record cold temperatures that are making headlines all over the world are a result of a prolonged period of solar inactivity. The warming trend before that was from a prolonged period of solar activity. You see, that big bright thing up in the sky is really really hot. It's freaking amazingly hot. We're talking hotter than downtown Las Vegas in the summertime. It is a very short distance away, it's only about eight light minutes from where we are right this moment. Now, that may sound like a lot, but when you consider that the nearest other star is light years, not months, years away, that puts things into perspective don't you think?

Libs. Stop trying to scare people into buying your service, and quit trying to tell me that simply by breathing, I can destroy the earth. That's asinine. The fact that six hundred and fifty scientists just signed a letter saying you all are nuttier than a fruit cake in May should give you an idea.
